Since my last (and first) blog, I have moved to Perth, Australia and have taken on a CIO role in the Mining industry. This is a very interesting change to Warehousing and Distribution. IT is more in the background with a lower external customer-facing role. This is compensated by a large number of significant change programmes in the area of broader information management and IT centralisation. So, I find myself working on the establishment of a single portal, introduction of Records Management and implementation of a single instance SAP. This is done in a largely outsourced environment where the focus is increasingly on Business Engagement, Program Delivery, Service Management, SLA management and Vendor Performance Management.

It looks like you have found some nice challenges in your new position. I have posted request with my references to see whether we can give you some inputs regarding for example the service management framework for the SAP instant that you are building.
I totally agree that functioning on the border line of business and IT is a very exciting world. Too much focus is sometimes on the technology where at the end of the day IT needs to bring a business benifit which is then forgotten.
I will keep you posted.
Note : i'm considering now to start my own blog as well
